Bazi enthusiasts love the peach blossom star. When it appears, it grants the chart holder attractiveness to the opposite sex. This is perfect for those looking for a lover.
But what happens after the peach blossom is gone?

This chart holder was born on 6 April 1945. In her second luck pillar, the horse enters her chart, bringing with it the Peach Blossom star and the Intelligence star and the Taiji nobleman. One would think she was destined for greatness. .
The reality was… far more complicated.
She spent her childhood in a turbulent family. This enkindled a desire to be independent. At the age of 20, her natural talents blossomed. She entered university as an English major, started a career as a model, and began turning heads. With her fierce intelligence and stunning looks, she drew the eye of many eligible bachelors, including the sons of the elite of society.
This was the springtime of her youth, the height of her power and life—a time that she will never regain.
As her twenties drew to a close, she settled down with a husband. She began a family, embarked on a new career, and took full advantage of her Celestial Nobleman star to build a strong professional network.
Having experienced the power of the Peach Blossom, she harnessed it in her professional career. She specialised in securing high-value deals with male clients, relying on her charm and looks to her advantage.
She had had many opportunities to study metaphysics during this period. She did take up Buddhism. But she never dived deep into spirituality. She chose the way of the world instead of the Way. And this would lead to a long, slow descent.
The year of the Ox created the Dragon-Ox destruction combination in her chart. In her case, it manifested as alcoholism. She was a formidable drinker, and used alcohol to her advantage. During business deals, she would ply her clients with spirits and take advantage of their inebriated state to secure concessions and high-value deals.
Everything came to a head at the age of 40. The solitary star flew into her chart, leaving her feeling lonely. Not only that, the combination of Monkey in the luck pillar and Snake in the Day pillar created another destruction combination.
Her husband divorced her. Her children grew distant from her. As her looks faded, the men she counted on for support began to abandon her. She descended into a depressive spiral, sinking even deeper into alcohol addiction. She still had the Nobleman star going for her, and her network allowed her to find another job to help support her lifestyle.
At the age of 50, she entered the Rooster luck cycle. The Rooster is a natural peach blossom star. She should have enjoyed a resurgence of networking luck. However, this also created a Rooster-Rooster self-punishment with her year pillar—the pillar associated with friends and network. As she emerged from her solitary period, the chart holder experienced self-doubt and self-sabotage. It is an uncharacteristic lack of confidence, brought about by the sudden upending of the world she thought she knew, and the realisation that she was no longer 20 years old. Small wonder that in the hidden stems, we see the Seven Killings: a sign of hidden troubles.
And she coped with it by drinking even more.
Her 60s brought on the Dragon-Dog clash. A massive shake-up in her life. She retired from the working world as a professional success and a personal failure. She turned to her friends and relatives for support—but in trying to use them the way she used men in the prime of her life, she alienated them.
Her coping mechanism of choice: even more alcohol.
These days, she drinks a case of alcohol a day. She still talks of her glory days, when she was a model, a sales director, a woman every man wanted to chase.
Using bazi, we can reconstruct the story of her life. After a troubled childhood, she blossomed into her power. With the aid of the Peach Blossom, she established a strong marriage and a successful career. But when her Peach Blossom days ended, she continued to hang on to it, trying to regain the power she had lost. As her looks faded and the auspicious stars passed on, she became even more desperate. When men no longer noticed her, it came as a huge blow.
Alcohol was her constant companion throughout her life. The appearance of the Dragon-Ox destruction, Monkey-Snake destruction, Dragon-Dog clash and Rooster-Rooster self-punishment made her emotionally susceptible to alcohol abuse. But even after these periods had passed, she still continued to hang on to alcohol, first using it to take advantage of others, now using it to cope with the steady decline of her life.
When certain stars enter your life during a luck pillar, they grant you abilities you might otherwise not have enjoyed. Cultivating them entrains their powers in your life, retaining them long after they are gone. Likewise, when inauspicious formations appear, they create turmoil in your life. If you do not resolve the root causes of these troubles, they will stay with you for years to come.
Bazi is heavily influenced by Daoism. Daoism teaches that you should strive to remain in harmony with the Way, and to not hang on to something when it is going. Obsessing over what is lost only leads to heartbreak. This is exactly what happened here.
By chasing after the Peach Blossom long after it had passed, the chart holder experienced a great deal of emotional turmoil. She clung to alcohol to cope, and it became her ball and chain. She could have studied metaphysics, found a different path in life, but chose not to. She exchanged the possibility of peace and graceful ageing for a fruitless chase.
Beauty, intelligence, and the Peach Blossom is an irresistible combination. But it does not last. A person’s looks will inevitably fade. When looks fade and the Peach Blossom departs, only her intelligence remains. Had she cultivated emotional intelligence instead of banking solely on her charms, the chart holder might have developed the resilience to weather the long decline. She might have been able to grapple with her growing alcoholism.
Instead, she clung on to self-destructive habits and pursued gifts that will never come to her again.
What can she do now? We see she has Sky Horse in her luck pillar. The Pig in the luck pillar also clashes with the Snake in her day pillar. She feels the urge to travel, to change her environment, to go somewhere else. We would encourage her to travel to a place where she can do good, such as charity work or volunteerism, and to address the deep-seated emotional issues that lead to her alcoholism.
2 years from now, she will once again feel the call of spirituality, and the natural peach blossom of the Rat will bring males into her life. This will also trigger the Rat-Rooster destruction. It appears that she will encounter men in her network who might lead her to spiritual truths—or tempt her into drinking more. Or both. This is the time for her to make meaning in life, continue to be of service to others, and to overcome her addiction once and for all. Even at this stage in her life, she can still turn things around—but only if she chooses to.
The Peach Blossom star can be a wonderful blessing. But when handled poorly, it can cause relationship and emotional difficulties. When the Peach Blossom is gone, it is gone. Do not chase after what is lost. Cultivate gratitude for what you have experienced before, then focus on what you can do now to adapt to the ever-changing times.
This is the great spiritual lesson of Chinese metaphysics. Divination and astrology tools like bazi can show you the life lessons you need to learn, and how to adapt to changing times.
