The Superconductor and the Coming of Period 9

Last week, two scientific papers took the world by storm. A team of Korean scientists claimed to have produced the world’s first room temperature ambient pressure superconductor. Not only that, this superconductor, designated LK-99, is allegedly composed of readily available materials, and can be synthesised with conventional laboratory equipment.

A global effort is now underway to verify their research and reproduce the superconductors. As of time of writing, computer simulations suggest that LK-99 might indeed be a room temperature superconductor. Researchers at the School of Materials Science and Technology of Huazhong University of Science and Technology claim to have replicated LK-99 and are now testing it. Should LK-99 demonstrate superconductivity at room temperature and at ambient pressure, the world will change forever.

What does this have to do with metaphysics?

In Chinese metaphysics, the world is about to enter Period 9. 2023 is the final year before complete entry into Period 9. Period 9 is defined by the Li trigram. First discovered in 1911, known superconductors are usually composed of exotic materials produced under immense pressure and placed at extremely low temperatures. They are not practical for mass applications.

A room-temperature ambient-pressure superconductor that can be readily manufactured will usher in a new world.

The world of Period 9.

Power grids with near-lossless transmission. Cheap and ultra-efficient electromagnets. Magnetic levitation trains and electric vehicles become practical for mass adoption around the world. Mobile devices with battery lives measured in days. Laser propulsion and spacelaunch. We may even see nuclear fusion follow.
