In 2024, the world will undergo a transition to a new energy state, bringing with it fresh opportunities and challenges. This state is known as Period 9, running from 2024 to 2043.
Period 9 is all the rage in Chinese metaphysics circles these days. Look it up on social media and you will see consultants and influencers discussing strategies and forecasts for the years ahead. Universally they present Period 9 as a time of fresh opportunities for those ready to take advantage of the changing times.
What they aren’t talking about is the dark side of Period 9.
It’s not all doom and gloom. But neither is it a bed of roses. The study of Chinese metaphysics is the study of reality, a deeper layer of reality with subtle but profound effects on the entire world.
Focusing only on the good stuff while ignoring the scary parts will leave you unprepared for disasters and emergencies. When they strike, you will be left reeling and confused, unable to understand what happened. You stand to waste your life savings, suffer from poor health, lose your friends and family, and worse.
You must understand both the opportunities and the threats coming your way. You must take advantage of the former and mitigate the latter. Only then can you be truly ready for Period 9.
In this post, let’s explore the dark side of Period 9.
The Age of Fire
Period 9 is associated with the Li trigram. Li is the trigram of fire. Everything related to the fire element will therefore rise to prominence.
Li symbolises middle-aged women and the middle daughter. In modern parlance, the former means women between the ages of 35 to 55. The latter refers to a specific mindset.
In ancient Chinese society, the first daughter (i.e. the eldest daughter) supports the family and secures a position of advantage. The third daughter, being the youngest, receives the most love and support from her parents. The middle daughter is caught in between. To make her own way, she resorts to trickery, flattery and social strategems.
Li also represents the eyes and the heart. Beyond its widely-known functions of regulating the blood, the heart in traditional Chinese medicine also governs joy. The heart is linked to the small intestine, and the small intestine is affiliated with the quality of discernment. The eyes are linked to the liver, and the liver controls anger.
The Li trigram is composed of a broken line sandwiched between two solid lines. This implies something that appears solid on the outside, but is empty on the inside.
During Period 9, these qualities will rise to prominence. These include:
Middle-aged women will become prime movers in society
Industries related to fire and earth will rise, those related to water, metal and wood will experience disruption
Diseases of the eyes and heart arise
Joy and anger become the driving emotions of the times
This much is what the average Chinese metaphysics consultant will tell you. Now let’s go deeper and explore the implications of this.
Global Meltdown
Fire melts metal. Metal-related industries will be hardest hit. This is especially evident in the financial sector.
2022 saw the collapse of cryptocurrencies and decentralised finance institutions. Recent weeks saw many banks going bankrupt. The consequences of these events are still unfolding.
The global financial system supports the economy of the entire world. A bank bank failure will send ripples across the globe, and with each successive failure, the aftershocks grow more powerful. We are likely to see a global depression on par with the Great Depression of 1929 to 1939, at least during the early phase of Period 9.
The American response to the ongoing financial crisis is to continue to print more dollars. This will cause hyperinflation, which makes matters worse. Countries will seek to move away from the dollar, leading to a sea change in international trade.
Metal is also associated with the justice system and government institutions. Weak and corrupt institutions will be exposed and discredited. The resulting frustration and outrage would lead to people taking the law into their own hands, further fuelling the chaos.
In California, shoplifters brazenly walk into stores and cart away goods and luxury items, because the justice system refuses to prosecute them. Corruption in South Africa undermined the state, leading to widespread loss of confidence and contributing to the imminent collapse of the power grid. Weapons sent to Ukraine re-appeared in the black markets of Europe. These are just some examples of systemic state failures in recent times.
There is no sugarcoating this: hard times are coming. We urge you to prepare for disasters and state failures, especially if you live in regions with fragile states and weakened economies.
The one solace is that fire has the property of transformation. Metal must first be melted to be shaped into something new. From these crises, there may yet be hope that something better will emerge.
Transportation Disruption
Water conquers fire. That is to say, it spends part of itself to extinguish fire. How does this translate to global events?
The most visible manifestation is the rise of automated vehicles. It may be possible that over the next twenty years, automated vehicles may be able to replace human drivers—at least in routine applications like point-to-point transport and public transportation. While automated vehicles continue to serve the function of transportation, the drivers will be made redundant. Hence, water spent part of itself to conquer fire.
This is relatively mild compared to the other extreme: global supply chain shocks. The pandemic period saw supply chain shocks. Only recently has the global logistics system begun to recover. The recent train derailments in Ohio, Washington and Arizona paint a picture of what is to come. We may see similar disruptions in the maritime and airline industries, with knock-on effects on global travel and logistics systems.
The End of Food As We Know It
Wood produces fire. Wood is consumed to become heat and light. This suggests that wood-related industries will undergo significant changes, incorporating the latest technologies.
Governments and non-government organisations alike are promoting soy- and insect-based diets. Regardless of where you stand on the issue, there are countless people who have soy and/or shellfish intolerances and allergies. Insect chitin is similar to shellfish, and shellfish allergies can be potentially lethal, so a person who is allergic to shellfish may also be allergic to insects. A society that normalises soy and insect consumption treats people with allergens as second-class, or even as pariahs.
Smallholder farms used to be the most common type of farms. In 2020, small family farms made up almost half of the farmland in America, while contributing 21% of the output. Today, the ultra-rich like Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos are buying up farmland. Less than 1% of the world’s farms control 70% of the farmland.
A tiny handful of elites control the global food chain, and will push for measures that will benefit them. We are likely to see the end of food as we know it, with the establishment pushing for alternative ‘diets’ designed to maximise their profits instead of maximising your health.
The End of Content Creators
Publishing is a wood industry. Visual arts such as films and digital art are fire industries. What do they have in common?
They will be disrupted.
Artificial intelligences can quickly create vast amounts of audio, visual and written content. AIs can work faster and more cheaply than any human.
Today, AI is not quite perfect yet. Art generators still have difficulty correctly producing hands, fingers, and small details. Text generators like ChatGPT are riddled with flaws: they may deliver inaccurate data, they may lack the ability to produce human-readable complex work, they may even make up entirely fictitious information and present it as fact.
Nonetheless, we are merely at the beginning of commercially-viable AI. Technology is bound to explode during Period 9. AIs may be flawed now, but after a few years, the situation may be very different.
The iron triangle of fast-cheap-good defines human consumer choices. AIs are poised to dominate the fast and cheap end of the spectrum. It is impossible for humans to work as quickly as an AI, and an AI is much cheaper than a human salaried worker in the long run. This forces humans to compete in a single category: quality.
Humans who cannot produce content up to the standard of an AI will be replaced. At best, they will be reskilled to become AI prompt writers, content editors, or AI ‘partners’. They will still have jobs, but they won’t produce much original content. The AI will take care of most, if not all, of content creation. The charitable interpretation is that this will free up humans for higher-order thoughts. In other positions, humans will be relegated to janitors, cleaning up the AI’s output.
Only creators of unparalleled artistic talent will be irreplaceable. Their skills are so far beyond the norm that an AI cannot do what they can do. They will be able to command a high premium for their works. However, as AIs grow more powerful, these experts are increasingly at risk.
‘Content creator’ as the term we use today will be radically transformed. Content will favour cheap and fast and good-enough works. Expect a sharp drop in quality once AI-generated art becomes mainstream.
Deepfakes and Deception
The flip side of AI art generators are deepfakes: the use of machine learning and AI to produce false content.
Deepfakes can be used to smear opponents, mislead a target into doing something, create fake news, and more. Deception and trickery will become the norm.
More than ever, we must exercise good judgment and discernment. We cannot take anything at face value any more. Critical thinking and research skills are crucial to battle a coming wave of fake news.
Metaphysics offer a powerful tool to assess the veracity of information. Qimen Dunjia can be used to determine whether a piece of information is reliable. Tarot also offers a similar function. These are also services we offer at Healiss Metaphysics. Simply book a reading with us and we’ll take care of the rest.
Censorship and the End of Privacy
Big Data is big business. Social media platforms collect your data and sell them to third parties to generate a profit. This data is used to predict your purchasing patterns to allow companies to serve you ads.
This also means that your life will become increasingly transparent to corporations and governments.
Governments will use that data to track and suppress political dissent. Censorship is already hard-baked into popular social media websites like Facebook and Twitter. As the world spirals into greater chaos, expect governments to use social media to spread propaganda and identify troublemakers.
The implication of this is that corporations and governments will grow even closer through the applications of technology and Big Data. Yet emerging technologies also threaten their grip on power.
Mining and Real Estate Explosion
Fire produces earth. The events of Period 9 will support earth-related activities, such as mining, construction and real estate.
But what does this mean?
Technology requires metals and minerals. Miners will be tasked with digging them out of the ground. Humans may even go into space to mine asteroids. This explosion in mining, however, is likely going to lead to an explosion in pollution as well.
A time-honoured strategy in the real estate industry is to buy a low-priced property, redevelop it into a higher-value property, and sell it to someone with deep pockets. People do it all the time. However, in Period 9, how would this chain of transactions take place?
A family loses their life savings to the global financial shocks. They resort to selling their property to make ends meet. The real estate company sells the property to a developer, who demolishes the house and builds a new property on the site. The developer than leases the property to people with money to turn a profit.
This chain reveals wealthy elites snapping up the legacies of desperate people so they can extract value from less-desperate people. As the depression deepens, foreclosures, repossessions and gentrification will become a global trend.
New Trends in Illnesses
Diseases related to the eye and the heart, and their linked organs the liver and small intestine, will dominate health matters in Period 9. These aren’t necessary physical ailments; they can be psychological as well.
Heavy use of technology coupled with sedentary lifestyle leads to negative life outcomes. Long hours of near work will lead to myopia—a disease of the eye. Other diseases associated with sedentary living include high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
At the extreme end, technology-mediated relationships will become the norm. People may enter into fake relationships with AIs, viewing them as less troublesome than humans. With little contact with people, isolation sets in, leading to depression and other mental illnesses.
Mass sociogenic illnesses spread by social media will occur among young people. Bombarded by messages day and night, youths will mould themselves to become more like the people they see. Recent spikes in Tourette’s Syndrome in young people were linked to YouTube and TikTok personalities who also had Tourette’s. Other conditions such as transgenderism are also spread by social contagion.
Beyond treating diseases of the body, we need to understand diseases of the psyche. Social media may be a powerful tool, but it also potentially exposes vulnerable people to severe psychological harm. Developing the discipline to self-regulate or even eliminate the use of social media is key in the coming years.
The Rise of the Karens and Kemalas
Metaphysics consultants like to celebrate the rise of women in Period 9. We see things much differently.
The rise of women would not be a bad thing if wise and capable women ascended to leadership positions. Yet looking at current trends, we are not going to see that. We’re going to see the opposite.
Affirmative action, anti-racism, diversity, inclusion and equity policies are the norm in the public and private sectors. A woman is more likely to be chosen over a man because she is a woman, not because she is the best person for the job. She will be celebrated and promoted because she is a woman, not because she is worthy of honour. Placed in a leadership position, such a person is poised to wreak havoc.
Imagine the typical Karen. The middle-aged busybody who shrieks at everyone around her for some minor infraction or other. Put her in a position of power, such as a school principal, and she will use her authority to punish everyone who displeases her. This is the kind of person we are likely to see are low to mid-level leadership positions.
The top posts will be occupied by liars and diversity hires.
Kamala Harris was celebrated as the first black female Vice President of America. She is also universally condemned as one of the worst VPs in American history. She failed at every task she was assigned to do, from securing the Mexican border to strengthening diplomatic ties with friendly states. She is so roundly despised that even her home state of California, which swings Democrat, gave her an approval rating of just 35%.
Elizabeth Holmes, founder of Theranos, was celebrated as a leading woman in technology. In 2015, Forbes named her as the youngest and wealthiest self-made female billionaire in America. A year later, allegations of fraud arose, leading to Forbes calling her among the world’s most disappointing leaders. She was convicted of fraud in 2022 and sentenced to 11 1/4 years in jail.
Silicon Valley Bank operated without a corporation-wide Chief Risk Officer between April 2022 and January 2023. Jay Ersapah, the CRO for the bank in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, pushed for LGBTQ and minority visibility initiatives. SVB collapsed because it took huge risks on investments that went bad. Had Ersapah done her job, had the bank focused on risk management instead of virtue signalling, this might not have happened.
Period 9 is linked to middle-aged women and trickery. While we can expect more women to take up leadership positions, we should also be prepared for more female fraudsters, tyrants, and incompetents rising to power. When they fail, they will drag countless other people down with them.
Once again, we are called to exercise discernment. We must see through the liars. Only those worthy of leadership positions should be given the roles.
War and Conflict
Thus far we have painted a picture of doom and gloom. Here is where it all climaxes:
A period of war and struggle.
Financial meltdowns, global shocks and systemic risks will shake up the world. Vital resources, hinterlands and ideological clashes become the flashpoints for future conflicts. The rage generated by these shocks propel people to rise up against perceived enemies.
Fire is linked to the military, and in the age of fire, the military will be ascendant.
Don’t count on female leaders to bring peace either. Contrary to public perception, women are more likely to wage wars than men. Modern-day examples include Margaret Tatcher, who ordered the re-conquest of the Falklands; Hillary Clinton, who advised Barack Obama to launch military actions in Libya; and Golda Meir, who sent assassins to kill the terrorists responsible for the 1972 Munich massacre. Should corrupt and incompetent female politicians take charge, disaster is virtually guaranteed.
False Priests and Fake Gurus
With disaster and calamity at every turn, people will turn to religion and spirituality for solace. Small wonder that Period 9 is also linked to metaphysical pursuits.
And since Period 9 is also linked to deception, we can expect charlatans to dress themselves up as spiritual leaders to fool people.
The priest who promises you that you will become rich and famous, if only you give him all of your money. The fake guru who spouts profound-sounding nonsense to attract followers, then seduces vulnerable members of his congregation. The post-modern clergy who perverts and distorts the teachings of the faith to chase worldly goals. The cult leader who leads everyone into mass murder-suicide. We’re going to see more of this in Period 9.
As a less extreme example, we’re also going to see a flood of unskilled and unqualified metaphysics consultants. They see that metpahysics will be a major theme in Period 9, so they take a few courses and call themselves masters to start selling their services. These people are going to lead you astray—and they don’t even know it.
Every period comes with its own challenges, and Period 9 is no different. The last period, Period 8, also began with wars and economic difficulties between 2001 to 2004.
The problems presented in Period 9 can also be solved by the opportunities presented in Period 9. You can use technology to conduct research and work far away from danger areas. You can use metaphysics tools to assess people and events as part of your decision-making process. Forecasting methods like bazi and qimen dunjia can reveal potential crises before they occur, giving you time to be prepared. Opportunities are abound for those who can see them.
You need to exercise discernment during this period. You need to be prepared for disasters. You need to be especially careful of who you choose to trust.
We hope that we’ve provided you with fresh perspective on Period 9. We treat metaphysics as the study of truth, not as a means of selling you goods and services. We call things as we see them, even if it means contradicting established masters and authorities. Our priority is your personal growth.
